Chaotic Java

Take a look at the Totally Gridbag animation, which I found through Roumen’s blog.

I must say that I felt like I knew the guy’s situation. Even though I can’t remember many occasions where I had to hand-code GridBagLayout just playing with all its properties and the amounts of Panels over Panels needed just to make a single form somewhat tolerable brings back bad memories.

Roumen was right in his blog: Matisse does offer a better solution. Hopefully it will reach more IDEs, and with time people might start losing (or at least fading) their prejudice against Java being a framework where its hard to design forms with.
